This combines the two things a flipper actually needs at once: enough trading activity that your orders fill in reasonable time, and enough margin after tax that filling them is worth doing. Either one alone is misleading. High volume with no margin is just a busy item; a fat margin with no volume is an order that sits all evening.
Items that appear here consistently tend to be consumables and supplies — things players use up and rebuy rather than own permanently. That constant turnover is what keeps both sides of the book filled, and it is why experienced flippers often prefer them to expensive gear with a bigger headline margin.
The buy limit column matters here too. High volume tells you the market can absorb your trade; the buy limit tells you how much of it you are allowed to buy in a four-hour window.
