OSRS Flip Finder

Find profitable Grand Exchange flips in Old School RuneScape — live margins, tax-adjusted profits, and confidence scores updated every 30 seconds.

What is a Flip Finder?

A flip finder is a tool that scans Grand Exchange prices in real time to identify items where the difference between the buy price and sell price creates a profit opportunity. When a player instant-buys an item, they pay the current lowest ask. When they instant-sell, they receive the current highest bid. The gap between these two prices — called the margin or spread — is what a flipper captures as profit, minus the 2% GE tax.

In practical terms: if an item instant-sells for 1,050 GP and instant-buys for 1,000 GP, the raw margin is 50 GP. After a 2% tax on the sell (21 GP), the actual profit is 29 GP per item. A flip finder shows you these figures automatically across every tradeable item on the GE, so you can focus on flipping rather than manually checking hundreds of items.

How Flip Finders Work

A flip finder pulls live price data from the OSRS Wiki Real-Time Prices API, which records every Grand Exchange transaction and publishes the latest instant buy and sell prices for every item. From this data, a flip finder can calculate several critical metrics:

  • Margin detection — comparing the current instant sell price (what you receive) to the current instant buy price (what you pay), with GE tax automatically deducted from the sell side.
  • GE tax deduction — applying the 2% seller's tax (capped at 5M GP per item) to compute the real post-tax profit, not just the raw spread.
  • Volume analysis — measuring how many units of an item trade per hour and per day. High-volume items fill buy and sell offers faster, making margins more reliable and predictable.
  • Price volatility — tracking how much an item's price fluctuates over time. Lower volatility means the margin you see now is more likely to still be there when your buy offer fills.
  • Confidence signals — combining volume, volatility, spread size, and data freshness into a single score that indicates how reliable a flip opportunity actually is.

How 07Flip Finds Profitable Flips

07Flip's flip finder scans every tradeable item on the Grand Exchange and surfaces the most profitable opportunities using data updated every 30 seconds. Here is what it shows:

  • Live margin scanning — every item's post-tax profit, potential profit per hour (based on your buy limit), and ROI percentage, updated automatically.
  • Confidence scoring — a 0–100 score that weights volume (40%), volatility (30%), spread quality (20%), and data freshness (10%). High-confidence flips are more likely to behave as expected.
  • ROI ranking — sort items by return on investment to find the highest percentage gains relative to your outlay, regardless of absolute price.
  • Price dips preset — items currently trading significantly below their recent average, often a signal that price will recover.
  • Price spikes preset — items with sudden upward price movement, often driven by a game update or supply shock.
  • Trade intelligence — advanced signals including merch detection and bot dump patterns for experienced traders.

Types of Flips You Can Find

Not every flip is the same. Depending on your bankroll, time available, and risk tolerance, different flip types suit different players:

  • High volume flips — items like runes, arrows, and food that trade thousands of units per hour. Margins are thin (often 1–3%) but offers fill quickly and returns are consistent. Great for beginners and players with limited time.
  • High margin flips — items with larger spreads, often in the mid-to-high price range. Profit per item is higher, but volume is lower and offers may take longer to fill. Best suited for players with more GP and patience.
  • Beginner-friendly flips — low buy price, high volume, reliable margins. These let beginners learn the mechanics without risking large amounts of GP. Think basic potions, food, or common skilling supplies.
  • Low-risk flips — high-confidence items with stable price histories and consistent demand. The confidence score on 07Flip helps identify these.
  • Dip buying — finding items temporarily below their historical average price and buying them in anticipation of recovery. Higher risk but higher potential reward, especially around game updates.

Key Concepts Every Flipper Should Know

Before diving into flipping, these are the terms and concepts that will appear in every flip finder and that every profitable flipper understands:

Margin

The margin is the difference between the instant sell price (what you receive when you sell) and the instant buy price (what you pay when you buy). It represents the raw profit potential before GE tax is applied. A 50 GP margin on a 1,000 GP item is a 5% spread.

ROI (Return on Investment)

ROI measures profit as a percentage of your investment. If you spend 1,000,000 GP and receive 1,028,000 GP after tax, your ROI is 2.8%. ROI lets you compare flips of very different price ranges on equal footing.

GE Tax

The Grand Exchange tax is 2% of the sale price, paid by the seller and capped at 5,000,000 GP per item. It was introduced in December 2021 as part of the item sink mechanic. Every flip finder worth using should deduct this automatically — 07Flip does. See the full GE tax guide for details.

Buy Limit

Every item on the GE has a buy limit — the maximum quantity you can purchase in a rolling 4-hour window. This directly caps how much profit you can make per flip cycle. A 300 GP margin on an item with a 10,000 buy limit is far more valuable than the same margin on an item limited to 8 per 4 hours. See the buy limits guide for more.

Confidence Score

07Flip's confidence score is a 0–100 rating that combines four factors: hourly volume (40% weight), price volatility (30%), spread quality (20%), and how recent the price data is (10%). A score above 70 indicates a flip with strong supporting signals. A score below 40 suggests the margin may not be reliable.

Volume

Volume refers to how many units of an item are traded per hour or per day. High volume means your buy and sell offers will fill quickly. Low volume means you might wait hours for an offer to complete, during which time the market can shift against you. Always check volume before committing to a flip.
