F2P Flipping Basics
Free-to-play players can absolutely make money flipping on the Grand Exchange. You have access to 3 GE slots (compared to 8 for members) and can trade any F2P item. The same principles apply — find items with good margins, buy low, and sell high.
Best F2P Items to Flip
The best free-to-play items for flipping tend to be high-volume resources and equipment that both F2P and members use:
- Runes — Nature runes, law runes, and cosmic runes have massive daily volumes and consistent margins.
- Ores & bars — Iron ore, coal, mithril ore, and their smelted bars are always in demand.
- Logs — Willow, maple, and yew logs are heavily traded by both skillers and flippers.
- Rune equipment — Rune scimitars, platebodies, and 2H swords have decent margins with lower buy limits.
- Cowhides & bones — Cheap, high-volume items perfect for building a starting cash stack.
Building a Starting Cash Stack
If you're starting with very little gold, begin by collecting and selling items to the GE to build up 50-100K GP. Once you have that, start flipping high-volume, low-price items like ores and logs. As your stack grows, move into higher-margin items like rune equipment.
F2P Flipping Tips
- Use all 3 slots — with fewer slots, it's even more important to keep them all active.
- Flip during peak hours — more players online means faster trades and more reliable margins.
- Stick to high-volume items — with only 3 slots, you want items that buy and sell quickly.
- Save for a bond — once you have enough GP, buy a bond to unlock members and 8 GE slots for serious flipping.
