Holy Moleys and the Hooded Slayer Helm are Here!
Holy Moleys and the Hooded Slayer Helmet have landed! Alongside some further fixes to Sailing and more…
Holy Moley, the Hooded Slayer Helm is Here!
- •You can now combine the Holy Sandals and Mole Slippers into Holy Moleys!
- •With the Holy Sandals and Mole Slippers in your inventory, visit Wyson in Falador Park and speak to him to combine them.
- •You can now combine the Slayer Skillcape Hood and the Slayer Helmet or Slayer Helmet (i) into the Hooded Slayer Helmet!
- •Visit any Slayer Master to unlock the Absolutely Slayin' option at the Slayer Rewards Shop for 1,000 points.
Sailing Tweaks & Fixes
- •Last Wednesday, we hotfixed an issue where storing a Rosewood Blowpipe in the Brittle Isle STASH unit could delete the darts it was loaded with, and any lost darts were returned to impacted accounts. As a result of this initial fix, you could only store an empty Rosewood Blowpipe in that STASH unit. This week, we've deployed a coldfix so that you can store the Rosewood Blowpipe with darts loaded once again. Apologies for the inconvenience this has caused and thank you for bearing with us in the meantime!
- •Increased the capacity of the Seed Vault up to 104, giving you room to store the new seeds, saplings and corals added with Sailing.
- •The Humidify spell now works on the new seeds from Sailing as well, which are Camphor, Ironwood and Rosewood seeds.
- •The Red Reef - a planned future quest for Sailing that passed the poll - no longer shows up in the new-style Skill Guide interface.
- •Lost crates that are occasionally found at sea will now update the Collection Log if they give you something cloggable, such as the Dragon Sword.
Permanent Deadman Changes
In preparation for Deadman: Annihilation dropping next week, we've got some changes to Permanent Deadman (World 45), featuring:
- •Stockpiling charms now apply to a wider variety of activities, including:
- •Wintertodt
- •Tempoross
- •Guardians of the Rift
- •Golden nuggets from Motherlode Mine
- •Pizazz points
- •Tithe Farm
- •Barbarian Assault
- •Brimhaven Agility
- •Giants' Foundry
- •Hallowed Sepulchre
- •Chompy Bird hunting
- •The Emblem Trader now sells various Deadman: Annihilation Quest lamps that can be used to automatically complete a number of Quest storylines.
- •Godwars KC will no longer be reset when leaving.
- •Kylie Minnow's fishing platform now has an entry fee of 100,000 GP, to try and add some risk that discourages would-be botters.
- •Two new uniques have been added to breaches, the Trinket of Avarice and the Trinket of Fortuity.
- •The PJ timer has been updated to match the Deadman: Annihilation PJ timer of 24 ticks.
- •To stop players purposefully dying to NPCs when they see a PKer roaming around in Permanent Deadman, dying to an NPC will drop all tradeable items to the ground, with 1 minute timer until another player can see those items. If in an instance, you will be provided a gravestone as usual.
Update on the Legacy Java Client
- •As part of our ongoing efforts to reduce illicit activity such as botting, the Legacy Java Client will be discontinued as a stand-alone option, starting next Wednesday, January 28th. This will also allow us to better focus on improving the Official Client.
- •This won’t affect players using third-party clients like RuneLite or HDOS.
Winter Summit 2026
- •The Winter Summit is landing this Sunday, January 25th where you'll be able to see what's in store for Old School in 2026! Tune into the livestream at 20:00 UTC/GMT (15:00 ET / 12:00 PT / 07:00 AET) over on the official OSRS Twitch channel at
- •Just before the Winter Summit starts, we've got something new and extremely exciting for you... Deadman: Factions! Get ready for a God Wars themed, chaotic 4-hour long event in collaboration with Solo Mission, where over 100 creators are participating!
- •Corrected a mistake in the Skill Interactions section of the Smithing Skill Guide interface.
- •In the Official Client, the toggle for 'Highlight poll booths' now remembers your preference over logout.
- •Some of the Varlamorian wildlife NPCs were not ready to let go of festive vibes just yet. This week, they decided the time for festive hats was over... for now.
- •Fixed a bug where players could float above some stairs in Buccaneers' Haven.
The PvP rota has moved to Period B:
- •560 - (UK) - PvP World
- •319 - (US) - Bounty Hunter World
- •579 - (US) - High-Risk PvP World
- •561 - (UK) - Free-to-Play PvP World
- •580 - (US) - LMS Competitive
World 390 (AUS) for LMS Competitive has been de-activated with this rota.
World 569 (AUS) for Bounty Hunter has been de-activated with this rota.
The PvP Arena is using '1 Def Pure' loadouts in Ranked Duels and Tournaments this week.
The Hooded Slayer Helmet and Holy Moleys were part of our recent Getting Around Poll, where everything passed just this Monday. If you haven't already, you can check out the poll blog . On the back of the poll closing, we're bringing these two community favourites in-game! Plus, this week, the team is also focusing on preparing for the release of Deadman: Annihilation, which is dropping next Friday on January 30th!
Without further ado, let's have a look at what we have in store for you today...
You’ve reached 99 Slayer, and you’ve earned the bragging rights to show off your shiny Slayer Cape with its hood, but alas - the moment you put your Slayer Helmet back on, your Slayer Skillcape hood gets benched. That does not slay.
[[File:Holy Moleys and the Hooded Slayer Helm are Here! (1).png|thumb|400px|center|If you can’t see the image above, click !]]
Now, you'll be able to show off your mastery in style! Players with 99 Slayer can now spend 1,000 Slayer points at any Slayer Master to unlock the ability: Absolutely Slayin'. You can find this option under the Cosmetics tab of the Slayer Rewards interface.
[[File:Holy Moleys and the Hooded Slayer Helm are Here! (2).png|thumb|450px|center|If you can’t see the image above, click !]]
Once unlocked, you can combine your Slayer Skillcape Hood with your Slayer Helmet or Slayer Helmet (i) to create a hooded version of the Slayer helm.
[[File:Holy Moleys and the Hooded Slayer Helm are Here! (3).png|thumb|200px|center|If you can’t see the image above, click !]]
Use your Slayer Skillcape Hood on your Slayer Helmet or Slayer Helmet (i) to combine and you'll be absolutely slayin'.
[[File:Holy Moleys and the Hooded Slayer Helm are Here! (4).png|thumb|400px|center|Looking good! If you can’t see the image above, click !]]
Your Slayer helmet will function exactly the same as before, while this upgraded look displays your mastery of the skill in style.
Important notes to highlight:
- •You must have 99 Slayer (boosting won’t work).
- •The upgrade is purely cosmetic:
- •No stat changes.
- •No extra effects.
- •The imbued effects of the Slayer Helmet (i) are fully supported once combined, remaining active on the Hooded Slayer Helmet too.
- •It isn't possible to combine item cosmetic variants directly (such as the Araxyte or Black Slayer Helmet). These must first be dismantled back into the base Slayer Helmet, or Slayer Helmet (i) before combining with the Skillcape hood.
- •The Hooded Slayer Helmet will always use the base grey Slayer helmet appearance, regardless of whether the Slayer Helmet used to combine it had a Combat Achievement reward cosmetic applied previously - for example, a Tzkal Slayer Helmet.
- •The Hooded Slayer Helmet can be dismantled at any time, by right-clicking on it in the inventory and selecting the 'dismantle' option. This will return the Slayer helmet or Slayer helmet (i) and the Skillcape hood.

Our community is full of genius ideas that feel unmistakably Old School to the core, and Holy Moleys are no exception. You've been asking if it would be possible to combine Holy Sandals and Mole Slippers into a single entity - one that keeps the usefulness of the sandals, while embracing the comfort and charm of the slippers - and now you can!
First of all, make sure you have Holy Sandals and Mole Slippers in your inventory, then make your way to the Falador Park and visit Wyson the Gardener.
Once you're there, talk to Wyson or use either the Holy Sandals or Mole Slippers on him to combine them.
[[File:Holy Moleys and the Hooded Slayer Helm are Here! (6).png|thumb|450px|center|If you can’t see the image above, click !]]
While having Holy Sandals and Mole Slippers in the inventory, Wyson has the bonus chat option above to combine them.
[[File:Holy Moleys and the Hooded Slayer Helm are Here! (7).png|thumb|400px|center|If you can’t see the image above, click !]]
Or you can use either Holy Sandals or Mole Slippers on Wyson to combine them into Holy Moleys.
[[File:Holy Moleys and the Hooded Slayer Helm are Here! (8).png|thumb|500px|center|✋ Absolute cinema🤚 If you can’t see the image above, click !]]
Holy Moleys are a purely cosmetic combination for your Old School pleasure, keeping all the existing functionality you care about, without introducing any balance concerns. This means they retain all the existing properties of the Holy Sandals, including:
- •+3 Prayer bonus and 31 Prayer requirement.
- •Counting as a Saradomin item (useful for God Wars Dungeon).
- •They are untradeable, but fully reversible - which means Holy Moleys can be dismantled at any time, returning both original items so they can be traded again. You can dismantle them by right-clicking on Holy Moleys in your inventory and choosing the specific option.
- •If you die in PvP while wearing Holy Moleys, they will be split back into Holy Sandals and Mole Slippers and be dropped accordingly.
- •Devout Boots are not compatible to create Holy Moleys. However, next week we'll be updating them so that players can dismantle Devout Boots back into Holy Sandals, giving Ironman players a way to create Holy Moleys without regrinding, if they wish to!
Last Wednesday, we hotfixed an issue where storing a Rosewood Blowpipe in the Brittle Isle STASH unit could delete the darts it was loaded with. Following the hotfix, any lost darts were returned to impacted accounts as quickly as possible. As a result of this initial fix, you could only store an empty Rosewood Blowpipe in that STASH unit. While not ideal, this allowed the team to prioritise resolving the more serious issue of darts being deleted. With the coldfix we've deployed as part of this game update, so you should now be able to store the Rosewood Blowpipe with darts loaded once again. Apologies for the inconvenience this has caused and thank you for bearing with us in the meantime!
In other news, we’ve updated the Seed Vault’s capacity. With Sailing introducing new seeds, saplings and corals, it was no longer possible to store every available Farming supply in the Seed Vault. So we’ve now increased the Seed Vault’s capacity up to 104, giving you room to store the new Farming supplies from Sailing too! While we're at it, we made it so that the Humidify spell now works on the new seeds from Sailing as well, which are Camphor, Ironwood and Rosewood seeds.
Additionally, we know many of you want the ability to move your built-in Sailing facilities to other suitable hotspots on your boat. We all have that facility we built early on and now regret its placement, especially as more facilities are unlocked throughout the journey on the seas. If that sounds familiar, you’ll be pleased to hear that we’re aiming to release this update as part of next week’s game update - stay tuned!
Plus, a couple of other fixes:
- •Last week, some eagle-eyed players spotted that The Red Reef - a planned future quest for Sailing that passed the poll - sneakily slipped into the Quest XP tab of the new-style Skill Guide interface. This has now been corrected - until the quest resurfaces when it's time for its release.
- •Lost crates that are occasionally found at sea will now update the Collection Log if they give you something cloggable, such as the Dragon Sword.
In preparation for Deadman: Annihilation dropping next week, we've got some changes to Permanent Deadman (World 45). We'll be sharing a blog to get you up to speed with all things Deadman: Annihilation by the end of this week, so stay tuned! In the meantime, let's take a look at the changes to Permanent Deadman, featuring:
- •Stockpiling charms now apply to a wider variety of activities, including:
- •Wintertodt
- •Tempoross
- •Guardians of the Rift
- •Golden nuggets from Motherlode Mine
- •Pizazz points
- •Tithe Farm
- •Barbarian Assault
- •Brimhaven Agility
- •Giants' Foundry
- •Hallowed Sepulchre
- •Chompy Bird hunting
- •The Emblem Trader now sells various Quest lamps that can be used to automatically complete a number of Quest storylines. These are the same lamps as will be available in Deadman: Annihilation. Note that completing Quests in this fashion will not grant you their XP rewards, so make sure not to complete anything that you'd like that juicy XP drop from!
The Trinket of Avarice will automatically pick up loot for you, while the Trinket or Fortuity can be charged with 50,000,000 GP (lost to your killer on death) to add an extra +100% drop rate multiplier to bosses - this means if you have a 6x drop rate then you'll see it boosted to 7x, for example.
- •The PJ timer has been updated to match the Deadman: Annihilation PJ timer of 24 ticks.
- •To stop players purposefully dying to NPCs when they see a PKer roaming around in Permanent Deadman, dying to an NPC will drop all untradeable items to the ground, with 1 minute timer until another player can see those items. If in an instance, you will be provided a gravestone as usual.
Previously, we announced plans to retire our Legacy Java Client, and we're now in a position to carry out this work.
Through our extensive research, we've identified that the number of legitimate players using the Legacy Java Client is very small and the vast majority of users are botting and taking part in other illicit activity. So, retiring the Legacy Java Client has become a step in our anti-botting strategy. Shutting down the Legacy Java Client will also reduce maintenance strain and allow us to better focus our efforts on continuing to improve the Official Client.
So, starting next Wednesday, January 28th, the Legacy Java Client will be discontinued as a stand-alone option.
For those of you playing on third-party clients like RuneLite or HDOS nothing will change.

Just before the Winter Summit starts, we've got something new and extremely exciting for you... Get ready for a God Wars themed chaotic 4-hour long event in collaboration with Solo Mission, where over 100 creators are participating! It's Deadman: Factions!
If you can’t see the video above, click !
- •When: This Sunday, January 25th, 4pm UTC
- •Where: On the official
Deadman: Factions is intentionally designed to be played out in a short amount of time, so some specific changes have been made to make this possible. Some of the highlights are:
- •All competitors start from scratch on a private Deadman: Annihilation world with extreme server boosts such as 1000 times XP and 1000 times drop rates!
- •Each faction will have three hours to prepare their accounts before the Finale.
- •In the Finale, all factions will be teleported to the Daimon's Crater where they'll fight alongside their team mates to the death.
- •The last faction standing will be crowned the winner!
Saradomin, Zamorak, Bandos, Armadyl. These are the factions, but who's fighting with who? See below!
Click on each image to see who is in which faction! Holy Moleys and the Hooded Slayer Helm are Here! (11).png Holy Moleys and the Hooded Slayer Helm are Here! (12).png Holy Moleys and the Hooded Slayer Helm are Here! (13).png Holy Moleys and the Hooded Slayer Helm are Here! (14).png Which faction will you be rooting for?
- •Corrected a mistake in the Skill Interactions section of the Smithing Skill Guide interface.
- •In the Official Client, the toggle for 'Highlight poll booths' now remembers your preference over logout.
- •Some of the Varlamorian wildlife NPCs were not ready to let go of festive vibes just yet. This week, they decided the time for festive hats was over... for now.
- •Fixed a bug where players could float above some stairs in Buccaneers' Haven.
We’re hosting a Free-to-Play Clan Wars event on Saturday, January 24th, and everyone is invited.
Mods Rach and Civ will be hosting a large-scale F2P Clan Wars brawl using their Chat Channels (Friends’ Chats) as opposing teams. With Chat capacity now at 500 players, we’re going all-in!
- •Up to 500 players per team.
- •One battlefield, all at once.
This isn’t a tightly drilled war with strict rules or required voice comms. It’s relaxed, messy, and intentionally chaotic.
If organised clans want to show up and do their own thing, great! If you want to turn up with no experience, no plan, wearing nothing but a Bronze Dagger and your breaches, also great!
[[File:Holy Moleys and the Hooded Slayer Helm are Here! (15).png|thumb|400px|center|If you can’t see the image above, click !]]
Expect a first-time experiment that will almost certainly be mad, messy, and fun.
The first round will be King of the Hill.
A square area on the map will act as the 'hill'. The goal is simple:
- •Control the hill.
- •Hold it longer than the other team.
- •Score points while you do
When your team has the majority of players standing inside the marked area, the hill will change colour (red) to show you’re in control. While you hold it, your team starts gaining points.
The other side will be doing everything they can to push you off.
There are no tricks here. You fight for ground, lose it, retake it, and try to hold long enough to win. Expect constant pressure, pile-ins, and sudden swings as control flips back and forth.
Depending on time, we’ll also run a few standard Clan Wars formats, including:
- •Food-off deathmatches
- •First team to get 200 kills
These will be quick, scrappy rounds.
- •World: 499
- •Meet-up: Ferox Enclave purple portal
- •20:00 UTC & GMT / 15:00 ET / 12:00 PT / 07:00 AET.
On the day, join one of the following Friends' Chats:
- •Mod Rach
- •Mod Civ
Each Friends’ Chat will form one team. Join whichever side you like, but we’ll keep an eye on numbers. If one team looks heavily stacked, we may ask a few players to swap sides before a round starts.
It won’t be perfect, but we’ll do our best to keep things fair.
Anything. Seriously.
There’s no minimum combat level, no gear requirements, and no expectation to be optimal.
If you want to bring sensible F2P PvP gear, the . If you want to show up in nothing but Monk Robes and a dream, that’s also fine.
[[File:Holy Moleys and the Hooded Slayer Helm are Here! (16).jpg|thumb|600px|center|If you can’t see the image above, click !]]
This is a first run, and things may get a little messy, especially with lots of people moving around. Please be patient, expect some hiccups, and come along for the laugh.
We’ll also be hosting a Discord voice call during the event if you’d rather just watch the chaos.
See you on Saturday!
It's our 25th anniversary, and to mark the occasion we've launched a new Anniversary Pin from AngelsScapes and an Anniversary Desk Mat. You can purchase them now from .
